Advertencias para turistas

Estaba leyendo con mucha tristeza acerca de la advertencia que varias embajadas en el mundo han puesto acerca de viajar a Guatemala. Segun las advertencias, Guatemala se encuentra pasando por una epoca en donde la inseguridad, los asaltos y la violencia tienen bastante auge. Que tristeza el saber principalmente de que noticias como estas vuelan rapido. Entre los paises que han advertido a sus cuidadanos estan Alemania, Estados Unidos, Gran Bretana, Canada, Espana y Francia. Segun las autoridades de turismo, el numero de asaltos a turistas a bajado. Segun los datos de algunas de las embajadas, es peligroso viajar a Guatemala por razones como el aumento de maras, los riesgos de el transporte público, las extorsiones policiales y la inexperiencia de la Policía, así como un sistema de justicia débil. Que lastima que da el escuchar esto, pues este ano que termino, Guatemala tuvo mas turismo que los otros paises centroamericanos. Esperemos de que ahora que la situacion se esta poniendo mas seria, nuestro govierno, la iniciativa privada y ciudadanos en general se pongan de acuerdo para poner en practica medidas para evitar estos problemas que estan haciendo lucir mal a nuestro pais y a todas las cosas bellas que puede presentar al mundo en general.

Peten is a deparment blessed with a diversity of attractives. Peten is the biggest deparment of Guatemala. In it, there are many archeological sites from the Mayan civilization. The many Mayan sites like Tikal are complemented by the different water resources of the area. Around Lake Peten Itza, there are many beaches that can be enjoyed by the turists and locals of the place. Some of the beaches are Los Leones, El Malecon, El Remate, El Pedregal, La Ermita, etc. In the central area of the department, there are different caves like Actun Can and El Mirador del Rey Canek. Also there are several islands around the lake and a zoo in the are known as Petencito. If you are into boating, it is possible to take a boat ride in the different rivers of the region like San Pedro, Salinas, La Pasion and Usumacinta. From these rivers it is possible to see the archeological sites of Ceibal, Aguateca, Dos Pilas and Piedras Negras.

If you love adventure, there is the bridges of Ixpanpajul, canopy tours and tarzan tours located between Tikal and Melchor de Mencos. From the capital to Flores, Peten there are 542 kilometers that can be travel either by plane, reaching the Mundo Maya International Airport or by land using the highway. According to guides of the place, Peten has hotels from different prices to accomodate everybody.

Livingston

Livingston, Izabal is ready to receive turists in the holiday season. According to the authorities of the place, the hotels, beaches, restaurants, etc., are ready to receive the turists for which this season is known. Livingston is a special place because in it, it is possible to see the interaction between different cultures; the garifunas, the quekchi and the ladina. Livingston was established between 1802 and 1806, when a ship captained by Marcos Sanches brought the first garifuna people to the area. Livingston can be reached by sea and by land. Some of the places that can be visited from Livingson are Playa Blanca, Los Altares, Rio Dulce and the Fort of San Felipe de Lara. Some of the favorite dishes are; rice and beans, ceviche de caracol and fresh fish.
