It made me really happy to read about the increasing number of cruises reaching Guatemala in the past year. Dozens of Guatemalan artisans went to Santo Tomas de Castilla, Izabal to offer and sell their products. Last week 2 of the 44 Cruises of the year 2005 reached Guatemala. Different people from the Santo Tomas de Castilla port are trying to increase the number of cruises from 44 to a 100 for the 2006-7 season. According to the Inguat authorities, Guatemala has been offered as a turism destinacion in several international fairs. Cruises reaching Guatemala, leave behind extra income for many people and for our country and at the same time help show our beautiful country to the world. The majority of turists come from the United States, Canada, Denmark and English. Let us hope that we can build the infrastructure needed to keep these places ship shape for the turist to enjoy so that they can tell other to visit Guatemala.
