Mundo Maya
I was reading with much interest about “Mundo Maya”. Mundo Maya is the name of the airport in Santa Elena, Peten. According to the news, this airpot is being expanded and improved to provide a better service to the Peten area. With the improvements to this airport, it will be possible to accomodate 18 new airlines to this area compared to the 9 airlines that occupy this airport at the moment. Some of the improvements will cover the service to the passengers, which will include a better place to recover bags, immigration and the waiting areas. Another improvement, will be a bigger area for taxis and buses. Iberia, a Spanish airline, is thinking about making ” Mundo Maya” its main terminal for this area. It is hoped that this improvementes will be finished by March or 2007. With these improvements, it is hoped that more turist find an easier way to reach Peten and all its mayan cities. Let’s hope that this improvements will bring more turism to Guatemala to enjoy and wonder about the beauty of this area.
